Where Are They Now? - Ricardo Oliveira

Updated: Nov 16, 2019

Born in Sao Paulo in 1980, Ricardo Oliveira is a former Brazilian international forward who played for the Rossoneri in the 2006/2007 season. After spells in his native Brazil and La Liga, he signed for Milan in 2006, who were looking for someone to fill the boots of the recently departed Andriy Shevchenko. After a promising scoring debut against Lazio, Oliveira would only find the back of the net 4 more times that season in all competitions. His performances were significantly affected by the kidnapping of his sister in Brazil; which occurred in October and extended till her release in March 2007. Despite Milan ending 2006/2007 in style, winning their 7th Champions League title in Athens, Oliveira failed to have a significant impact on Italian football. He was subsequently loaned out to Real Zaragoza in 2007/2008 and sold to the La Liga outfit permanently in 2008. Oliveira went on to play for numerous clubs in Spain, UAE and Brazil following that. At the ripe age of 39, he is currently still playing with Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro.
