Milan Club Melbourne October 2020 Newsletter

Monthly Recap & Season Restart

It has been an eventful month for Milan as we secured the signings of Brahmin Diaz from Real Madrid & Sandro Tonali from Brescia, with the latter being one that is deemed as a revolutionary signing with Tonali being touted as one the of best young talents in Italy. What made the signing even sweeter was edging out Inter to his signature. We hope that these two players will find their feet at Milan & help continue to bring us back to the dominant force we once were. The transfer window is still open and we are rumoured with a few players so hopefully we can tie down a few more signings and continue to improve.

The Serie A Season restarted for us on the 22nd September against Bologna which was highly anticipated as we continued our unbeaten run from last season through all pre-season matches & Europa qualifiers. A comfortable 2-0 victory followed by another 2-0 victory in the next match against Crotone has assured us that our recent form hasn’t been a fluke & we are looking to make further strides towards a champions league spot come end of season.

Join Our Serie A Fantasy League

We have created a Serie A fantasy football league for us to be able to compete against fellow Milanisti. It is fun & there will be prizes to be won throughout the season. It is definitely worth the r minutes it takes to create your squad for the season long worth of fun.

LEGEND OF THE MONTH - DANIELE MASSARO

Every fan of Milan knows the name Daniele Massaro. A talented forward who achieved great success with us. Beginning his career with his local club Monza in 1978 he made a name for himself playing  alongside Paolo Monelli across 3 seasons there. After signing for Fiorentina in 1981 he became a cemented starter for the next 5 years after which AC Milan acquired him & the rest is history.

Massaro played 306 Matches for the club scoring 69 times and being an integral piece of the late 1980s super team of Milan. As a Milan player Massaro won 4 Scudetti, 2 Champions Leagues & many more pieces of silverware.

Off the pitch he is a fantastic person and we had the pleasure of having him at a Milan Club Melbourne Event a couple of seasons ago, if we could have a starting XI of players filled with the same passion as Daniele Massaro, the club would be a very tough one to defeat.

NEWEST MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE

Meet Reyner, a passionate milanista who will be taking the role of Marketing Manager here at Milan Club Melbourne.

What age did you first start supporting Milan?

I started supporting when I was about 9-10 years old.

What is your favourite AC Milan memory?

I can’t split it between the 1988/89 season where we went unbeaten in the last 7 or 8 games and won the scudetto on the final day and the 2007 champions league matchup with Manchester United, they were a class team and we beat them with great football in both legs & (not to mention the famous Kaka goal where he split the two defenders).

Who is your favourite Milan player of all time?

Paolo Maldini. I watched him since his debut & all throughout his career, he is such a humble and loyal leader.

When do you think we will win our next Scudetto?

2025/26 but I hope I am wrong and it comes sooner!
