This derby was played on matchday 22 of the 2003/2004 season and turned out to be quite the cracker. Milan went into the match flying high in Serie A, sitting 5 points clear of Roma at the top of the table. We had won the last 3 derbies against Inter in the league, in addition to beating them in the CL semifinal "Euroderby" the season before.
All of this obviously fired the Nerazzuri up, who started the game on the front foot. Goals from Stankovic and Cristiano Zanetti gave them a 2-0 lead at half time. The second half was a different story, however, with Il Diavolo coming to life. Two goals in 2 minutes from Tomasson and Ricky Kaka made it 2-2 by the 58th minute. With the scores levelled, the tempo of the game died down a bit and it looked like ending in a draw. However, Clarence Seedorf had other ideas. In the 85th minute, he fired away a 35-yard rocket that Toldo had no answer to and San Siro went wild. We went on to win the game and our 17th Scudetto at the end of the season.
