Match Preview: Sassuolo-Milan, 20/12/2020

The last two games of 2020 will prove if Milan is mature enough to think about winning the Scudetto. The first of these two difficult matches is against Sassuolo. Although the Neroverdi are a pretty young team, they gained respect thanks to a young and promising team and a coach with good ideas.

After winning four of the first six Serie A games against Milan, Sassuolo lost six of the following eight games (2 draws). In addition to this, the Emiliani didn’t score in four of the last seven matches.

All the last nine goals Milan scored in Serie A were scored by a midfielder (four) or a defender (five); the last goal scored by a striker dates back to 22nd November: Ibrahimovic vs Napoli.

Latest news tell Rebic suffered a foot injury, but hopefully he will be able to play against Lazio next Wednesday. Instead, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will need more time to recover from the calf injury he suffered, and won’t be back for at least two weeks. Bennacer and Kjaer are still injured and won’t take part to the next games. Sassuolo has to deal with the loss of an important player, the former rossonero Manuel Locatelli. The Italian midfielder, who played 48 Serie A games out of 122 with Milan, will miss the game due to a suspension. Coach De Zerbi can rely on Domenico Berardi, who scored 8 goals in 12 games against Milan, his favourite opponent.
