“Sweet, sweet revenge"

Having famously forfeited a 3-0 half-time lead in the UCL final of 2005, the 2007 edition was our chance to exact revenge.

Revenge, we got. After a pre-game mess, seeing a number of Liverpool supporters - with authentic tickets refused entry - and Ancelotti's hesitations over whether he should start Inzaghi vs Gilardino, his decision proved correct, where in the 45' Inzaghi scored his first of 2 goals thanks to a deflection, doubling his tally in the 82'. With only moments left, Dirk Kuyt scored a headed goal to give a moment of hope to Liverpool fans, although his efforts were in vein as we went on to conquer Europe for the 7th time.
