A minute’s silence was held for Jose Antonio Reyes before the Champions League final after the former Arsenal, Real Madrid and Spain forward was killed in a car crash on Saturday. Reyes was 35.
Family members said that Reyes died in an accident on the main road from Sevilla to Utrera. They said another member of his family also died and a third person was injured.
Reyes shot to fame at Sevilla and secured a switch to Arsenal, where he was part of the unbeaten ‘Invincibles’ 2003-2004 Premier League winners, before spells at Real and Atletico Madrid.
He also helped Sevilla win the Spanish second division in his first stint at the club. He won the Europa League five times, twice with Atletico Madrid and three times in his second spell at Sevilla.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. RIP 🙏
